註釋As a result of the oil spill from the U.S. barge Nestucca in Gray's Harbour, Washington, in January 1989, the B.C. government and the governments of surrounding states have begun to organize themselves for response to other oil spills. This document describes the responses of the B.C. government to oil spills, including the province's measures to prepare itself; its actual reponse actions; the responsibilities of industry, the federal and U.S. governments, members of the public and the native population; measures to rescue wildlife; cost recovery and compensation; and waste disposal.
