註釋
Field notes Vol. 29 documents botanical collecting by three collectors in Panama in 1905 (John Francis Cowell), 1908 (Robert Statham Williams), and 1910 (Joseph Crawford). Entries for Cowell are a list of specimens numbered 1-427, collected on a New York Botanical Garden expedition. They are undated, and most include both genus and species and a location. The original field notes for Cowell's specimens can be found in Field notes Vol. 184. Entries for Williams are a list of specimens numbered 1-1162, collected on a New York Botanical Garden expedition. They are undated except for the year, 1908, and are mostly moss species. Some have both genus and species, many have only genus or family name. A copy of an article by Williams entitled "Panama mosses" (Bulletin of the Torrey Botanical Club, 38: 33-36. 1911) is tipped in to the front of the notebook. In the article, Williams states that the collection location was in the vicinity of Penonomé, about 100 miles west of the Canal Zone, and near Cana, 100 miles east of the Zone in the province of Darien. Entries for Crawford are a list of 55 specimens numbered in the range of 397-589. The list is dated 1910, and no locations are given, only the plant name (about half genus and species, the rest genus only). The last 53 pages of the notebook are blank.
