註釋On April 9, 1999 the Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice, announced the establishment of an independent panel to conduct a review of the Canadian Human Rights Act. The Act had not been comprehensively reviewed since 1977. The panel's mandate was to examine the purpose of the Act and the grounds listed in it, to ensure that the Act kept current with human rights and equality principles.
