註釋Letters, dated Sept. 5, 1804-Feb. 7, 1835, from J.B.B. Van Praet, to various correspondents in England and France, concerning literary history, and library and bibliographical matters. Most of Van Praet's correspondence concerns inquiries from scholars and bibliophiles in France and England about the collections of the Bibliothèque, and about their own scholarly publications. Correspondents include Gabriel Peignot, French bibliographer and scholar; William Shepherd, English politician, scholar and minister; publisher Durand de Lanco̧n; André-Marie-Jean-Jaques Dupin, well-known French jurist and scholar of legal history; Bertrand Barère, distinguished representative to the French Assembly; and the English bibliographer and bookseller, James Edwards. Also included are a letter concerning employment at the library; and an overdue notice from the Bibliothèque royale to M. Fontanet at the Revue des deux mondes, signed by Van Praet.
