註釋The CCJ was founded in 1942 in reaction to Nazi persecution of Jews. Traces its organizational history and policy decisions. During World War II, Archbishop William Temple and others associated with the Council pressed the government to do more for the rescue of Jews. In general, however, the CCJ has avoided political action and devoted itself primarily to education against antisemitism; in the 1960s it also began to cautiously combat Christian anti-Judaism, such as the representation of the Jews as deicides.
