註釋
This work analyzes the viability of recovering nutrients from highly organic matter loaded water streams. This is achieved by combining thermal activation of persulfate (PS) and Fenton oxidation. The process was carried out in a continuous flow operation (Q: 0.5 L h-1). Under optimized conditions (T: 85oC, 30% and 70% of the stoichiometric amount of PS and H2O2, respectively to mineralize COD, and 3 h residential time), an overall 85% COD mineralization was reached. A subsequent nitrogen recovery by struvite precipitation, led to nitrogen removal from the wastewater above 90%, under the molar ratio Mg : N : P (1.5 : 1 : 1). However, it is pointed out that further research is needed to optimize the use of struvite as a fertilizer and minimize potential risks to human health and the environment.
