註釋Abstract: Information was developed from experts on food andnutrition disciplines, individuals familiar with survey methodology, and special workshops, to derive a survey methodology system for measuring food consumption patterns. The system can be used to screen a representative sample of the US population, or can be adapted for use in more detailed studies of specific population groups. The system should be relevant for use by organizations engaged in monitoring food consumption and nutritional and health status. A description of the system, its study design characteristics, and data base requirements are delineated. While certain considerations (e.g., economic) can constrain its application, the methodology is valid. The final information is significantly more complete and useful than that obtained by currently-available methods. Specific recommendations are made for establishing the proposed system. Reports presented in 3 workshops focus on: methods for aggregate food consumption data collection; evaluation of such methods; and nutrition and health status indicators.(wz).
