Daily Tritium Intakes by People Living Near a Heavy-water Research Reactor Facility
註釋This paper estimates the relative daily intakes of tritiated water (HTO) and organically bound tritium in an adult population living in Deep River, Ontario, near a heavy water research reactor facility. The daily intake of elevated levels of atmospheric tritium was estimated from its concentration in environmental and biological samples and in various food items from a local tritium monitoring program. Where available data were inadequate, estimates generated by an environmental tritium-transfer model were used. The urinary excretion of HTO as predicted by a metabolic model was also compared to HTO-in-urine measurements of the adult population surveyed. The estimates presented include the contributions to total intake of the various tritium sources and pathways considered.
