註釋Major illustrated catalogue of the art and bibliographic collection of the Itaú Bank (Itaú Unibanco Holding), probably the most extensive and important collection of Brazilian historic and visual memory comprising more than 5000 iconographic pieces along thousands of rare books, documents and maps collected by banker Olavo Setúbal the last years of his life (he died in 2008). Formed since 2000 by Olavo Egydio de Sousa Aranha Setúbal, the noted banker behind the creation of the largest financial group in Latin America, this extraordinary collection includes the most representative works by foremost Brazilian painters, traveling artists and extraordinary copies of rare and antique books (first editions, signed copies, artist books, etc.), documents, manuscripts and period maps. The book includes more than 1500 color images (mostly published for the first time) and represents the largest illustrated record of Brazilian art and history published in Brazil in one volume, highlighting unique pieces such as: the first Brazilian work by artist Albert Eckhout; the largest panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century (6 meters); one copy in excellent condition of the first hand-illuminated encyclopedia of the flora and fauna of Brazil; the complete collection of the modernist journal "Klaxon, among other pieces. . Further plans include the complete digitalization of the collection.
