Information Systems, Organizational Culture, and Financial Performance of Mergers and Acquisitions
註釋Though the relationship between information systems (IS) and firm performance continues to be an important subject to researchers and practitioners, a great deal of controversy exists about whether investment in IS contributes to financial performance. This study tests the relationship between financial performance of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) and the extent of integration of the respective IS environments. Further, while organizational culture has been acknowledged to be a potentially important factor in any IS implementation, its relationships to the management of IS have not been rigorously examined. The present study tests the effect of organizational culture on the relationship between IS integration and financial performance while simultaneously considering the intensity of using information technology (IT) within the company as a moderating variable. The findings suggest that the ability to convert IS investments into better performance might be contingent on (a) IT intensity and (b) overcoming cultural barriers.
