_____ Schwarzentrauber was born in the early 1600s in or near Trub, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Two of his sons Hans (d. 1688) and Hanss Peter (1643-ca. 1694) immigrated to Gimmeldingen or Lobloch, Rheinpfälz, Bavaria. A number of their descendants of the fifth, sixth and seventh generations, immigrated to the United States, ca. 1848 to 1888, settling in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa. Descendants listed also lived in New York, Texas, California and elsewhere. The surname was changed to Schwarztrauber in Germany and some descendants in the United States spell their surname Schwartz, Schawartztrauber, or Swarztrauber.
