註釋
These volumes are intended to throw light on one facet of the life of Solomon Plaatje - one of the most important - his journalism. Much of Plaatje's life and thought can be traced through his newspaper writings and, in addition, they give to that life and thought a precise chronology. In this H.S.R.C collection as much of the journalism as possible has been included. The purpose of this collection is to be as comprehensive as possible, so that the material is on record. The role of Solomon T. Plaatje (1876-1932) in South African Society, is a model of research and his extended biography, in proofreading stage should establish Plaatje's reputation once and for all. This volume will hopefully provide, on one level, a feeling for the living voice behind the biography. The collection has been put together from numerous archival locations, including extensive travel and research in Britain and the U.S.A. over and above numerous trips to libraries and archives in Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Grahamstown, Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Johannesburg.
