註釋
No other city in Kentucky can boast of a more colorful history than Frankfort. Selected as the seat of state government in 1792, the city has fought numerous attempts to move the capital elsewhere. Among those who have resided there are Aaron Burr, the former vice president who was tried for treason in 1806; the phantom "Gray Lade," who inhabits the Georgian "Libery Hall" mansion; Governor William Goebel, whose assassination in 1900 brought the commonwealth to the brink of civil war; and artist Paul Sawyier, whose watercolors continue to delight Kentuckians everywhere. All of this and much more is recounted in Reflections on Frankfort, 1751-1900. Its author, Frank W. Sower, is a former mayor and lifelong resident of the city. He also includes here the itinerary of the popular walking tour of historic Frankfort which he has conducted in recent years.
