註釋
In Anglo-American Capitalism and the Ethics of Business Norman Barry defends the morality of Anglo-American business a form of which is practised in New Zealand against its critics. In the wake of the decline of communism and many modern experiments in collectivism and welfarism such as those of New Zealand, critics have reappraised capitalism and the market. Although many of the critics accept the efficiency of the market, they argue that it cannot generate its own morality, which has to be imposed from outside. They single out the capitalism of Wall Street and the City of London, criticising the alleged moral defects of its individualism, its search for shareholder value and its encouragement of the takeover method of industrial reorganisation.
