Abschliessend analysiert er Gewalttater im Hinblick auf ihre Verbindung mit der stadtischen Gesellschaft, wobei unter anderem die Frage im Vordergrund steht, welche sozialen Gruppen durch besondere Gewaltaffinitat auffielen.

Why did Barcelona experience such a violent period between 1918 and 1936? This volume examines collective violence in the Catalan metropolis of that time. The author breaks down his analysis of the city's violence into several steps: firstly, he sheds light upon the way in which the topography of Barcelona shaped collective acts of violence. He then elaborates on the most common practices of violence. In doing so, he focuses on the development of said practices, elucidating both the political, social and technical facilitating factors. Finally, he analyses perpetrators of violence with regard to their connection with urban society, focusing, among other things, on the question as to which social groups demonstrate the most affinity to violence.
