註釋Letter from, H.H. Wilson, Camp Chesnut to his wife, December 1862, relating a voyage on the Pee Dee and Waccamaw Rivers to visit Colonel Jordan's salt works. He mentions various rice plantations and a Negro church along with discussing the operation of the salt works, Jordan's hospitality and reporting the high incidence of disease in his unit. Letters, 4 and 18 January 1863 from Pocotaligo and Camp Chesnut, again to his wife, giving an account of his visit to Charleston, viewing installations on Sullivan's Island and informing her of General Trapier's petition to the legislature "requesting to retain us 90 days longer." He then refers to a counter petition filed by Captain Fraser and providing details of camp life and activities.
