Lost Circulation Cementing in Wormholes
註釋Husky has been working to develop an innovative tool to increase the success rate of lost circulation cementing, and by eliminating the need for elaborate tools and special fluids, has driven the cost down. The procedure is known at Husky as the Hydrostatically Controlled Cement Plug (HCCP) and is remarkably simple to use. It is a combination of new and old technology and equipment that has been modified and fit for purpose. The tool is designed to reduce the additional static fluid head imposed on the lost circulation cement plug by installing a tool on the bottom of the drill string when losses occur that prevents the displacing fluid from draining out of the drill pipe, and on to the cement. This project is a comprehensive explanation of the problem of lost circulation to wormholes, the alternatives evaluation process, calculations and economics of the HCCP. Although the HCCP has experienced limited use in the first year since inception, it has shown promising results, having a high success rate (83%) while having a lost cost of application ($37,000).
