註釋Looks at how contemporary universities engage with their communities from a number of perspectives: the forces that are driving universities to form engagement partnerships with commercial, government, educational and community organisations; the ways in which engagement relates to traditional university functions of teaching, research and service; the place of engagement in contemporary debates about the `knowledge society'. Each chapter approaches these issues from two fronts: an essay on a major theme addresses significant debates and some of the relevant scholarly literature, and case studies and vignettes provide examples of specific engagement achievements, processes and projects at one university, Queensland University of Technology.
