The cases are drawn from four sub-sectors: shoe manufacturers, sporting goods, machine and equipment building and aviation manufacturing. Each case presents a problem that is common to the industrial sector and that must be resolved. A brief expose of each sub-sector is provided in order to familiarize the reader with the realities of the particular industry.
