註釋This booklet describes a research process through which community members (with or without the help of an outside researcher) can use the knowledge which is an essential part of their culture to develop community programs which will be appropriate to their community. Two examples of this research process are contained in the booklet. The first project is a large-scale study of values hald by the Dene people of Lac La Martre, Northwest Territories. The second example, from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, shows how the information gathered from a meeting between elders of the community and staff of an alcohol and drug abue prevention project could be used to build up a child development and parenting skills program.
