註釋 We discuss the novel use of a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure (CYOA) paradigm to study the multidecisional process that encapsulates a serious crime adjudication from accusation through disposition in the criminal legal system. Specifically, we consider the limitations and strengths of the current, dominant research paradigms, and the rationale for using the CYOA. Additionally, we present findings that support the further use of the CYOA paradigm in this and related fields of research and both research design and data analytic considerations specific to the paradigm. We conclude that the CYOA is a powerful tool for the study of the serious crime adjudication process owing to several facets of the paradigm: (1) its economical nature; (2) its ability to elicit criminal behavior responding in participants creating participant-perceived guilt; and (3) the ease of its implementation online using digital survey hosting platforms (e.g., Qualtrics).
