註釋
"Moleskin midas" a manuscript written by Tom Ronan : a fictional account of the rougher side of station life of the Old Tableland area in Western Australia during the early pioneering days ; contains numerous details of white-Aboriginal relations expecially those of white men with Aboriginal women, tells how one man carved an empire for himself out of the pristine wilderness. The publisher's pencilled corrections and amendments are still visible on the manuscript. Both the manuscript and the publishers galley survived the 1957 Katherine flood and still bear mild mud marks. Tom Ronan's letter of donation to the "Chief Librarian, Darwin" describes the process "Moleskin Midas" took to be produced - from writing the story in longhand to getting it published. The flood occured in the 1956-57 Top End wet season and was a instrumental in the Katherine River having stream gauges being installed to monitor water flow.
