註釋This study concerns the financial future of Canadian women born between 1937 and 1946. After an examination of the age of retirement for women and a formulation of a definition of financial security, it shows the relationship between the financial future of the women in the study group and their past history in terms of labor force participation, interruption of paid employment, and the impact of marriage on both earning power and the ability to save. The study then describes the Canadian three-tier retirement income system and discusses issues of accessibility, the levels of benefits, and how well each component accommodates the needs of women. The study concludes with proposals designed to meet the special retirement needs of women now at mid-life.
