註釋Hemingway's reply to the private-press publisher Paul Romaine's inquiry about permission to publish Hemingway's four-line poem "Ultimately" in a 1932 issue of Salmagundi. "I cannot recall the poem in question so can't consent. But if you will mail me a copy of it airmail ... will wire you yes or no ... If it is too lousy I will wire no and you will understand my motives."
