Microhabitat Requirements and Movements of Juvenile Coho and Chinook Salmon at Three Streamflows in Kloiya Creek, B.C.
註釋Although there are many dams in BC constructed on salmon rearing streams, there is little knowledge of how the juvenile fish deal with these sudden alterations of flow. This project was conducted in 1985 on a small stream on the north coast of BC in which all 5 species of Pacific salmon spawn. The study areas consisted of 5 separate pools about 800 m downstream from the dam at the outlet of Prudhomme Reservoir. Seventy-seven juvenile salmon (40 coho and 37 chinook) were tagged and the direction and distance they moved in response to the altered flows were determined by underwater observation. Measurements of depth, velocity, light intensity and the type of substrate were taken at each fish's location for each streamflow level.
