Larry Coughlin is one of a team who join a manned mission to Space. The ship is named the Callisto after one of Jupiter's Moons. The Captain discovers that the ship has grown in magnitude as they travel away from earth. However it is too late to alter course and as a result they become drawn into the vortex of a fiber connecting the universe with a higher dimension. They emerge in a new stratum consisting of a triangular ocean that turns out to be alive and also the source of the third force in nature and the sustainer of the universe!
PURGOSIA:
They are then transported to a second triangle which has a town at its center named Purgosia. The visitors are taken aback because they discover that its inhabitants are those who used to live on earth. One of the principle characters a Japanese fellow called Hiroshi falls in love with one of the inhabitants called Jill who is Larry's sister. He had known her on earth and regretted never asking her to marry. Larry is also in love as he has designs on of the ship's cadets called Everina a sparkling beauty from New Mexico.
HOLY WAR:
The visitors are then invited to take one final step and visit the highest citadels beyond the pearly Gates. While all this is going on the forces of darkness are mobilizing.
Because they are jealous that mortals were allowed visit without first dying. They immediately begin to prepare for war. The visitors are unaware of the nasty developments having been taken on a tour of the infinite territories - the templates of eternity. They visit three Cities, Mohammed, Paradiso and the New Jerusalem, eachone the Capital of each of three dynasties. They are shown the "Praydaque" the market that trades in prayers, are given Praque which is a currency resulting from good works and face the AMGOD which is the realization of dogma. The instruments of darkness Zahtienne, Thormentus and Diva begin to invade as they are confident and possess weapons of mass spiritual destruction. After some exciting moments it is the simple humans who turn the tide of war. Since they are still mortals the sophisticated lasers of Diva cannot harm them. Their human minds are so low tuned that they can withstand the higher frequency of the enemy artillery. They therefore courageously fly the Callisto into the oncoming formations scattering them in disarray. The story is thought with difficulties as the group fights their way back home hopefully in time for Hiroshi to marry Jill before it is too late!
