The Clean Development Mechanism
註釋The international community is increasingly aware of the dangers of climate change and is steadily advancing towards the design of mechanisms to mitigate its adverse impacts and adapt to its consequences. The creation of the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change and its Kyoto Protocol are direct results of these global efforts. Several flexible mechanisms have been identified to assist countries in reaching their emission reduction targets such as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Using the CDM, countries can derive CO2 emission reductions by investing in sustainable development projects. This report provides a background summary of the CDM concept, sets the framework for the design of pioneer projects, and also directs the reader to other relevant documentation and reference material.
