The period from 1970, the Third Age, began with the emergence of the Hollywood blockbuster and the regeneration of the Hollywood industry. Author begins with a look at the new Hollywood, with the rise of the 'blockbuster', its directors and genres, and its ability to react to change which has resulted in Hollywood's continued dominance. He then surveys the cinema's of other significant centres of world production. Including chapters on women and film, gay and lesbian cinema.
