In March 1993, The Saskatchewan Department of Environment & Public Safety merged with the Department of Natural Resources to form Saskatchewan Environment & Resource Management. This publication first reviews the rationale for the redesign of these departments, then describes the organization of the departments before the reorganization, the departmental redesign process, the implementation of the reorganization, and the extent & core features of the design, including changes affecting structure, process, and corporate culture. The final sections present an evaluation of the reorganization and a statement of departmental corporate values.
