註釋The earliest known record for a person bearing the name Mower in the United States is Richard Mower, Salem, Massachusetts, 1638. Richard moved to Lynn, Massachusetts about 1650. His wife Alice died 29 May 1661-2. He married (2) Elizabeth Wilde of Ipswich, Massachusetts on 6 November 1662. Three sons are mentioned in his will. Of these, John and Samuel mark the beginning of the New England Mower family. Descendants lived throughout New England and elsewhere.
