註釋
Presents an overview of the situation of the Jews in Poland in the 20th century. Pp. 85-122, "Juden - Polen - Antisemitismus", deal with antisemitism in the interwar period; pp. 133-180, "Die Katastrophe (1939-1945), examine various aspects of the Holocaust in Poland; pp. 195-212, "Polen und Juden nach dem Holocaust", discuss antisemitism in 1945-52; and pp. 229-245, "Der polnische März (1968/69)" report on the 1968 antisemitic "anti-Zionist" campaign. Contends that Polish antisemitism in the interwar period lacked the elements of pseudoscientific embellishment and racism, but existed in all the social classes. Antisemitic propaganda focused on concrete accusations, which were comprehended by all social classes and strata. It spread easily and reached the masses. However, the antisemites could not muster enought political power to oust the Jews from their positions, since there was also some acceptance of the Jews in all of the social circles. Regarding postwar antisemitism, emphasizes that it was even stronger than before or during the war. In 1944-48 ca. 2,000 Jews were murdered. Many Poles viewed the victory of socialism, which they resented, as the "victory of the Jews". In this situation, a broad illegal reactionary front based on antisemitism threatened to arise. In addition, antisemitism spread to the Communist Party which then had an influx of new members.
