George Orwell and His Non-Fictions
註釋This book includes a sound critical appreciation of three non-fiction novels written by George Orwell, a clear conscious of a gentlke generation. These non-fictions are Homage to Wigan Pier, Down and Out in Paris and London. Of these books, the first deals with the Spanish civil war in which Orwell himself fights together with POUM militias at the front. The second book examines the life of the miners working in an industrial town and their problems under desolate life conditions. The third reports an intellectual but a realistic discussion on the levels of poverty among the plongeurs in Paris and the tramp in London. These works are certainly reliable documents of historic value with their factual accounds of the presented problems.
