註釋
Account book kept by Captain Thomas Knowlton during the first year of the Revolutionary War. It contains the names of the soldiers who fought with Knowlton at Bunker Hill and the signatures of many men from eastern Connecticut. Knowlton is considered America's first intelligence professional, and his unit, Knowlton's Rangers, made a significant contribution to intelligence gathering during the early Revolutionary War. Knowlton was killed in action at the Battle of Harlem Heights. A statue of Knowlton stands on the grounds of the Connecticut State Capitol. Three of the soldiers were killed in action, and Knowlton starred their names in the book. They were William Cheney, Asahel Lyon, and Benjamin Ross. Adin Marcy was confined and died in New York on a British prison ship. One soldier, Daniel Bosworth, gave over half his pay to his mother.
