註釋"The inhabitants of Kimberley ... imbued with a creative spirit, found expression in painting, photography and writing, and so came into being the Kimberley Athenaeum Club. "Daubs," the official organ of the art section of the club, saw the light for the first time in June 1915 ... The publication continued until 1917 when the effects of the Great War brought the activities of the Athenaeum to a close ... The decision was made to publish "Daubs" as Volume 4 of the Kimberley Africana Library series under the auspices of The Africana Library Friends. The cost involved in the publishing of this body of work necessitated certain omissions and grouping together of illustrations in a slightly different order, but these are minimal"--The Publisher's Note
