Moving through the challenging years of pre-adolescence, girls need guidance and encouragement. They need affirmation of their basic value, not just as people, but as girls. They need to know what it means to be a girl. But there is a scarcity today of guidance and models, not just for girls, but for their female caretakers as well--their mothers, grandmothers, an mentors. "Celebrating Girls" fills this need, offering stories and celebrations that support girl's femininity and celebrate meaningful passages in their lives. It is primarily addressed to mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and other woman in intimate relationships with girls.
