註釋This richly illustrated publication presents an insightful consideration of Ian Fairweather's major achievements of the period from 1953 when he moved to Bribie Island in Moreton Bay, off the coast of Brisbane, to his death in 1974. It includes his abstractions of 1959-61 and his religious masterworks Gethsemane 1958 and Epiphany 1962. Working in a hut amidst a stand of Bribie Island Pines, Fairweather transformed his memories of travel in Asia and observations of contemporary life into complex layered works of remarkable vision. Drawn from public and Australian private collections, including the substantial holdings of the Queensland Art Gallery, the catalogue is published in association with the exhibition 'Ian Fairweather: Late Works 1953-74', QAG, 3 November 2012 to 3 March 2013.
