Known for decades throughout North America as "Mr. Hockey," Gordie Howe played 32 full seasons in the NHL (and WHA). During that time, he and the Red Wings won four Stanley Cups and nine Prince of Wales Trophies (most points in the regular season). He won the Hart Trophy (League MVP) six times, the Art Ross Trophy (most individual points) six times, and appeared in 20 All-Star games.
His career statistics (including the WHA) are (with the singular exception of Wayne Gretzky), unparalleled in the history of the sport:
NHL WHA Total Goals 801 174 975 Assists 1,049 334 1,383 Total 1,850 508 2,358 Howe's numbers for total games played (2,421) and total penalty minutes (2,419) are extraordinary. He was among the strongest, toughest and most talented players on the ice. In his late forties he was still feared and revered by men half his age.
Lavishly illustrated with images from the Harold Barkley Archives plus dozens of pieces (photos and memorabilia) from the Howe family's own extensive collection, Gordie Howe is a fitting tribute to "Mr. Hockey."
