註釋This report includes an overview of the Saanich Inlet Study, technical presentations at the study workshop, and workgroup summaries. The Study was initiated to provide technical assessment of the Inlet's capacity to handle discharges of treated sewage and stormwater from surrounding urban development without environmental degradation. Topics of the technical presentations included physical and chemical oceanography, nutrients and phytoplankton response, sensitive habitats and biota, contaminant sources and loads, shellfish contamination, fisheries and recreation issues, and First Nations uses and values. The workgroups discussed physical oceanographic modelling, fisheries issues, sewage and non-point source contamination, and nutrient enrichment.
