Seventy Years of an Active Life
註釋Louis Stern (b. 1835) was born in Philadelphia and during the Civil War served as the United States secret-service agent for the Baltic coast to prevent the building or equipping of Confederate blockade runners. He was an inventor who lived and worked chiefly in Great Britain, eventually becoming the manager and part-owner of The Iron Works in Glasgow, Scotland.
