Shadow of the Brotherhood
註釋This true crime drama provides a gripping narrative of the events surrounding the shooting of two police officers by renegade Irish Republican Brotherhood members in Dublin in 1867 and the subsequent investigation into the underground nationalist movement. The work draws on newspaper reports and primary source documents to describe a tale of police work and politics as well as to provide an interesting window into nineteenth century forensic science that was relied on extensively in this case. Several black and white plates including photographs of the suspects and forensic reports are included. This work will be of interest to historians studying the nineteenth century Fenian movement and fans of Victorian true crime stories.
