Perceived Benefits and Barriers of Distance Delivered Professional Development for Rural Alaska K-12 Teachers
註釋"The purpose of this study is to identify perceived benefits and barriers of distance delivered professional development (DDPD) for rural Alaska K-12 teachers. Using descriptive design and analysis, 33 teachers from three school districts were surveyed using an instrument designed by the researcher. Qualitative data was also gathered by post-survey telephone interviews with ten of the respondents. All agree with the benefit characteristics, and strongly agree with five: (a) increased access to lifelong learning (b) offers flexible scheduling, (c) ability to earn advanced degrees, (d) ability to offer ongoing support through internet resources, and (e) meets diverse demands of population. Five of the characteristics were not seen as barriers: (a) limited access to technology, (b) limited knowledge about use of classroom technology, (c) too much responsibility on the student, (d) unfamiliar with delivery methods, and (e) lack of administrative support"--Leaf i
