Jacob Barney was born in England in 1601, a son of Edward Barney of Braddenham, Bucks, England. He immigrated to America and landed in Salem in 1634. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had two sons and two daughters. He died in Salem in 1673. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, England and elsewhere.
