The passages are interspersed with background and historical details by the authors. "My dearest Ira" was presented as a play at Cook Memorial Library in November of 2011 with Chris Clyne as the narrator, Patrick Griffin as Ira, and Peggy Johnson as Lucy. For a later reading at the Wentworth Library in Sandwich, Jean and George Hurley were the narrator and Ira.
