For the first time, this retrospective unveils the oeuvre of world-renowned sculptor Anthony Cragg. Detailed illustrations of 60 sculptures from the past four decades along with drawings and diagrams provide insight into his artistic development, from the early installations created from objets trouvs and the lathed forms of the 1990s right up to his most recent works. While exploring a variety of materials, this study intriguingly demonstrates how Cragg’s works delve into the human capacity to give internal perceptions and ideas an externally visible form. The artist’s many distinct periods are illustrated, contending that their shared appeal stems from the energy released in his sculptures as well as the cryptic irony they suggest. Featuring an article penned by Cragg himself, this volume also contains a selection of scholarly essays and a revealing interview with the artist, all providing a deeper look into his accomplishments. This bilingual edition includes English and German.
