This manuscript is intended to acknowledge and honor all U.S. military personnel who were involved in combat during World War Two. The units which are recognized here by their distinctive unit insignas. I have cataloged each unit by its military identification and its unit insignia. I have further named several combat actions each unit was involved in during the duration of the war. Some units were involved in combat situations for longer periods of time, therefore, those units have more extensive combat histories. Printing space does not allow me to list all actions these units were involved in. This composition is intended to recognize many of the actions these units and its personnel were involved in. For the people directly involved in these actions, no reminder is needed. Of those of us who were born too late to share serving in this world- wide conflagration, this manuscript is intended to serve as an educational reminder of these heroic actions and why I title this manuscript "A Generation of Heroes."
