註釋The WHO Collaborating Centre for Classification of Diseases in Portuguese is currently developing a research on women mortality, with special attention to maternal mortality. This work is being sponsored by the Pan-American Health Organization and a state agency of Sao Paulo. It comprises two parts: the first one, abready finished, studied 4.484 deaths certificates of women 14-49 years old that died in 1983 in four cities of the State of Sao Paulo. The second part is being done with the same methodology of the so called "Interamerican Investigation of Mortality" (Puffer & Griffith and Puffer & Seriano) with a 50% sample of death of women 10-49 years old (1,029 deaths) that ocurred from July to December 1986 in the city of Sao Paulo.
