The Spectrophotometric Determination of Minor Amounts of Antimony
註釋A method is described for the determination of antimony in silicate materials. The silica is volatilized with hydrofluoric acid, and the fluoride is decomposed by fuming with sulphuric acid. Manganese is added, and the antimony is separated from interfering elements by co-precipitation on manganese dioxide. After dissolution of the manganese dioxide precipitate, the antimony chloride is extracted into a measured volume of isopropyl ether. The colour is developed with rhodamine B, and the antimony is determined spectrophotometrically. A set of results is analysed statistically and gives a coefficient of variation of 3.83 per cent at the 16 ppm antimony level.
