註釋A collection of essays; most of them appeared in the journal "Múlt és Jövő" between 1985-1998. Describes the efforts of Jews to integrate and assimilate in Hungarian society since the emancipation in the 19th century. Attempts to answer the question what it means to be a Jew in contemporary Hungarian society, and whether it is possible for Jewish tradition to strike roots in Hungary after the Holocaust. Pp. 72-119 discuss the Holocaust in the artistic works of Imre Ámos and the poetry of Miklós Radnóti. Pp. 224-282 contain reactions to antisemitism in Hungary and to antisemites like István Csurka.
