A Report on Corporate Governance of Regional Health Authorities in Alberta
註釋Presents findings and recommendations of a review of health authority governance in Alberta. Outlines a set of principles of effective governance, relating to such matters as mandate, authority, planning, monitoring, risk management, needs assessment, public input, codes of conduct, and utilization of committees. This is followed by discussion of the relationship of this report to related reports on Alberta's health system; a summary of issues pertaining to the legislative framework for regional health authorities, including a review of non-health-related legislation and legislation from other jurisdictions which might have some relevance to health system governance; discussion of the application of governance principles to the regional health authorities; and assessment of the impacts on governance of health board committees, community health councils, elected/appointed boards, provincial health authorities, the Council of Chairs, and the Provincial Health Council. The appendix includes a sample format for a performance assessment of a regional health board and of a chief executive of a board; and summaries of provisions of relevant provincial health legislation.
