註釋
"This narrative study explored the different ways experiencers of nonordinary transcendent experiences (NOTEs) integrate and make meaning of their experiences, with analysis through Jung's typology. It asked (a) if typology is evident in the experience and aftereffects of NOTEs, and (b) how an experiencer's type preferences may relate to the meaning she or he makes of their NOTE(s). 20 people who had one or more transformative NOTEs of progressive, regressive, and/or digressive kinds were interviewed. The Gifts Compass Inventory (GCI) was selected to measure psychological type preferences in keeping with Jung's original descriptions of type and provided a nuanced means of exploring the idiosyncrasies of NOTEs and their aftereffects. Immediate and long-term aftereffects of NOTEs, including biological, psychological, social, and spiritual were explored with typology providing a new dimension to the existing literature. Five major findings resulted: (a) psychological type preferences influence NOTEs and afterNOTEs; (b) psychological type preferences influence the meaning made of NOTEs, (c) each psychological type has unique transcendent dimensions; (d) transformative NOTEs accelerate transcendent actualization; and (e) NOTEs foster type-specific flow states."--Abstract
